The restaurant was recommended to me some time ago & I was glad I listened. Had I been just mooching around Chinatown I admit I probably wont have chosen this restaurant. Very good value for money, last time it cost us £34 for a family of 4.

Wong Kei is one of those places that everyone seems to know about, and always with a knowing giggle and grin. I have been going there since 1988 and never tire of the atmosphere and the food. Initially it was famed for being that place where the waiters were rude and you were shoved onto tables with strangers. This really is not true.

January 19, 2022 Wong Kei is one of London's great time capsules. A reminder that cash can still be king and that great service does not always need a smile. An always-welcome restaurant for the solo diner wanting to slurp on wonton noodle soup, Wong Kei's downstairs canteen is Chinatown's great sanctuary.

the trick in wong kei is to order one dish meals. forget about the dishes they are horrible. some things are not on the menu. tow foo siew yuk fan is awesome and the scrambled egg and char siew fried rice with dollops of the chilli oil is to die for. the roast meats are crap. go to young cheng ( the one at the back of china town)
